I love this rule because it's so cautionary to the intellectual upperclassmen of our society who turn their noses up at inane, baseless arguments because they are just that. But if you let the idiots fester in their "sewing circles" and continue to spin out-of-this-world bull crap into legitimate issues, then not only does the mass perception of reality get horribly skewed until the populace is convinced that pseudo-truths are iron-clad fact, but their attention is drawn away from issues that directly affect them and, if left unchecked, could do real harm to us as a people.
