Sweet little Shadow, who lost his eyes when he was a baby, explores his new cat tree for the very first time. I scattered treats on various levels of the tree, and he went to towwwwn looking for them. He gets around SO well that it’s sometimes hard to believe that he’s blind. However, near the end of the video, Shadow gets a little stuck because he’s not 100% sure how high off the ground he is. I was standing just off-camera, ready to help him if he got into a dicey situation—and it was so hard not to run over and lift him gently to the ground—but it’s so important that blind cats learn to be self-reliant. He and his blind sister have to be able to get themselves out of tricky situatioins in case I’m not there!
