Hey, guys! Just one week after the most recent third season of American Gods wrapped up on Starz on March 21, the network announced the official decision to cancel the series. There will be no Season 4 for American Gods, unfortunately. If we look at the viewership numbers for the third season, the cancellation decision by Starz seems only natural. Season 3 has averaged just 170 thousand viewers per episode: that is down by a whopping 50% when compared to the second season viewership. At the same time, American Gods has been consistently praised by viewers, demonstrating strong approval ratings of 7.8 out of 10 on IMDb and 68% on Rotten Tomatoes. Critics loved the series as well: American Gods has banked 5 award wins and 35 nominations, including two from Primetime Emmys. The fantasy drama series was based on the same-name 2001 novel by Neil Gaiman, who also served as an executive producer on the show. He hinted in an interview that since the series was axed rather abruptly, there is a talk of bringing closure to the story and to the fans by wrapping up all the storylines in a form of a TV movie or an event series.
