Dr Vince Henderson, Minister for Foreign Affairs, International Business, Trade & Energy, Dominica thanked India for its support during the pandemic.
He said, “India provides us with vaccines in the Commonwealth of Dominica. And we were able to extend it further to other member states in the Caribbean and the rest of the world. So we want to express, I personally want to thank the people and government of India for reaching out to us at the time of such need.” He said, “Thank you for taking the opportunity to reach out to us and I think that the lesson that moves me the most is the COVID-19 pandemic. I had the opportunity to sit in a very important capital of the world. I will not call names. I remember struggling with seeing how we could get an immediate urgent response by having access to vaccines because we have always felt that our small states, depending so much on tourism, in order to get out of the pandemic, needed to ensure that we protect our people. And before we knew it, India was able to respond and provide us with vaccines in the Commonwealth of Dominica. And we were able to extend it further to other member states in the Caribbean and the rest of the world. So we want to express, I personally want to thank the people and government of India for reaching out to us at the time of such need.”
