Documenting the making of a Pompeii style Roman Gladius from forging to finish! This sword is a re-creation of an actual sword type used by Roman Soldiers in the town of Pompeii. The town was destroyed by a violent eruption of nearby Mount Vesuvius. Four gladius swords were excavated, matching this style. The grip was originally completed using “Holly” type wood, but I used elk antler to make it a little more unique.
