It's been a long while since I've played tennis competitively. One of my excuses was just that I never had my racket restrung, and it just sits around collecting dust... not anymore! As an added bonus, we headed over to the tennis store (Tennis Cabana) to pick up a new racket for my wife so we can play together.

Since it has been a while, we needed to get reacclimatized to the tennis scene with all of the terminology, and technology, involved. While we were at the shop, we took the chance to ask some questions about common tennis questions!

How often should you restring your tennis racket?
--You should try to restring your racket as many times per year as you play per week. If you play twice per week, aim to restring your racket twice per year (or every six months). This can be affected by your style of play, and the level of competitiveness. If you are rough on the strings (high power shots) you may need to get them replaced sooner.

Is it better to have a light or heavy racket?
--In general, there are a lot of benefits to a heavy racket. You can swing with more power, and having a larger racket can give you a larger sweet spot and control. You should aim to play with the heaviest racket you can that does not compromise your swing speed or your comfort when playing tennis. (It isn't work risking tennis elbow or other injuries)

What string type is best?
--This is a more complex one, and I talked in the video about some of the different types (synthetic, natural, multifilament, and monofilament) but you should consult with your tennis shop to see which one is right for you!

Tennis is such an excellent way to get exercise, be outside, and have fun. We are very much looking forward to getting back into the sport, and since my YouTube channel is all about sports, fitness, and technology, what better way to do all of that! I'd love to continue making videos about tennis, cycling, running, and so much more, let me know in the comments section below what you think!
