Take a trip with us around Disneyland, the Happiest Place on Earth, on the legendary E.P. Ripley steam locomotive. Along the 18-minute journey you'll steam past the banks of the Rivers of America and behold rugged landscapes inspired by four of America’s majestic rivers: the Mississippi, the Columbia, the Missouri and the Rio Grande. Each are carefully recreated, complete with indigenous rock formations, wildlife and picturesque waterfalls.

Between the Tomorrowland and Main Street, U.S.A. stations, a special treat awaits! See Walt Disney’s legendary dioramas of the Grand Canyon and Primeval World – Land of the Dinosaurs.

The Disneyland Railroad is also a handy way to get around the park. Trains are scheduled to arrive every 5 to 10 minutes at most times throughout the day and travel clockwise around the park. There are four convenient stations, which include Main Street U.S.A., New Orleans Square, Mickey's Toontown, and Tomorrowland.

The E.P. Ripley is a 4-4-0 steam locomotive built by Walt Disney Studios in 1954. The train went into service on Disneyland’s opening day, July 17th, 1955, and was named after Edward Payson Ripley, the fourteenth president of the Atchison, Topeka, and Santa Fe Railway. The locomotive is designed to resemble the Baltimore and Ohio No. 774 locomotive and was reported to be Walt Disney’s favorite of the fleet. Mechanically similar to the C.K. Holliday, the steam engine was converted in 2007 to run on biodiesel instead of heavy oil. The engine was out of service from 2016 until 2023 due to issues with the in cab signaling device. Beginning in 2021, the E.P. Ripley underwent a full restoration at Hillcrest Shops in Reedley, California, and reentered daily service at Disneyland on March 6th 2023.

In addition to the E.P. Ripley, Disneyland's steam locomotives include the C.K. Holliday, Ernest Marsh, Fred Gurley, and Ward Kimball.
