Dwayne Johnson is the busiest man in Hollywood and the global lockdown hasn’t slowed him down at all, despite there being no work. That’s because he’s been hitting his personal gym almost daily getting in peak physical shape for the upcoming DCEU spinoff film, Black Adam.

Johnson was cast as Black Adam way back in 2014 and was supposed to show up alongside Zachary Levi in the first Shazam movie. But due to Johnson’s busy work schedule, this did not happen. Instead, Black Adam will get his own solo film which is slated to hit the big screen on December 21st, 2021. The character will be an anti-hero, which is a departure from his comic book origins as a villain and chief nemesis to Shazam. The character’s origins date back to ancient Egypt, where he was rubbing shoulders with the Pharaohs of old. Now, he’s a modern day hero trying to undo all the wrongs in his life. There’s no word about officially cast aside from Johnson, but we know the Justice Society of America will play a part in this movie directed by Jaume Collet-Serra, who also directs Johnson in the upcoming Disney movie, Jungle Cruise.

Because of the lockdown, Johnson has been hitting the gym hard, at least six times a week. Coupled with the delay in production, The Rock has stated that this particular regime has been the most demanding of his life because he’s so committed to delivering a god-like physique for his superhero debut. So we’ll break down his Black Adam workout and compare it to what he’s done on Hobbs and Shaw as well as Hercules to illustrate just how intense the Rock gets into shape.
