If you see your friend slips and falls, what’s your immediate response? Do you laugh at him, or immediately help him out? Here's an amazing hadith showcasing the character of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ that we should think for ourselves:

One night, there was a very loud sound that shocked the city of Madinah. So the people started to get ready in order to investigate the source of the noise. As they were heading there, they met the Prophet ﷺ who was already returning from his investigation. Meaning, the Prophet ﷺ was the first to arrive, and the first to investigate before anyone else! His action was so swift, and he was riding a horse without a saddle with a sword slung at his neck. When the Prophet ﷺ met the people on the way back, he said: ❛Don't be afraid, don't be afraid (there is nothing to worry about).❜ [Sahih al-Bukhari 6033]

The Prophet ﷺ was a true, courageous leader, who had an amazing level of care and concern towards the believers. And this was shown numerous times in his lifetime, such as in the Battle of Hunain. When the enemies took the Muslims by surprise, the majority of the Muslim’s army fled the battle! But the Prophet ﷺ remained, and pressed on. Eventually, when the people saw the Prophet ﷺ still in the battlefield, they returned and joined him.

Such was the character of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. Not only was he brave and courageous, he was also genuinely concerned about the welfare of the believers. Allah says:

🔵 ❛There certainly has come to you a Messenger from among yourselves. He is concerned by your suffering, anxious for your well-being, and gracious and merciful to the believers.❜ [Surah at-Tawbah 9 : 128]

The Prophet ﷺ had an extra level of care and mercy towards the believers, and we as his ummah should strive to follow his footsteps. The believers are like one body, if one part of the body hurts, the whole body feels that pain. So let us be gracious with one another.
