This video is for people who have never used an oil-burning kerosene lantern before. I purchased a Dietz number 50 comet kerosene lantern. It was not working properly initially.
Because I have used kerosene or hurricane lanterns before it was easy to get mine working. However, I thought it would be good to have a video for people who might get a similar lantern and had never used one before,.

The Dietz kerosene lantern has a good reputation but it is more expensive than the lanterns you get at Walmart and some dollar stores. I am normally an extremely frugal person but it is not safe for me to buy and use the cheapest made kerosene lantern I can find.
I was told that this model lantern was initially a popular lantern with the Boy Scouts. This is an excellent size for camping. I can also see it being used on small boats.

I much prefer solar lighting in place of kerosene or candles but I like the reliability of kerosene lanterns. If you hang a kerosene lantern in a shed for 40 years that did not have the metal degraded or rusting initially more than likely after 40 years you can put some fuel in it and get it to work. I don't think you can say that with a solar powered electronic lighting system. I think I can fix just about anything on my lantern. Not so much with my solar lamps.
