There is a hidden meaning to one of the characters' names. One of the main characters throughout the story is the soul named 22. This is a reference to the catch-22 paradox, in which the solution to a problem is impossible because it is also the cause of the problem. In this case, the only way for 22 to find out if life is worth living, is by being able to live life, which she isn’t able to do fully, for example, she can’t taste or eat food like normal human beings.
