I explain 5 critical tow ratings for your RAM 2500/RAM 1500 Trucks that you guys need to know. I also explained why almost every RAM 1500 truck does not have the "Advertised" MAX Towing capacity. These are the 5 towing tips I would recommend to make sure you are always safe on the road with a trailer behind your truck.

I hope everyone is having a fantastic long weekend! I figured I would make a quick video about the tow ratings I always consider before ever towing a trailer with my ram 2500 power wagon.

1. The trucks max tow rating.
- This may seem obvious but every truck usually has a different tow rating based upon how the truck is configured including what kind of engine is in the truck, the transmission, the gearing and what kind of cab you have. these are all critical to what your tow rating is and can all dramatically affect how much weight the truck can safely pull.

2. The truck Max Payload
- Again this may seem obvious but like the max towing numbers, the payload numbers are also effected by the configuration of the truck. having a 4x4 trucks means your payload numbers will be much lower then the advertised ratings.

3. Receiver weight rating.
- This will have a tongue weight rating as well as a tow rating. it is important to know both and what nobody tells you is in order to reach the max towing numbers often times you need a special weight distributing hitch in order to not over load the receiver.

4. The Hitch itself
- The hitch also has a tongue weight rating as well as a max tow weight rating. now with a ram 1500 with only a class 4 hitch. the hitches tend to be rated pretty low and it is important if you are going to be pulling a lot of weight off the bumper that you have an appropriate hitch.

5. The Ball
- Each ball has it's own weight rating and it stamped right into it. but don't be fooled because even the same size ball can have dramatically different weight ratings.

Bonus. Trailer tire speed rating
- often times the trailer tires are only rated for like 110km/h so if you are planning on towing down the highway make sure you check your tires because nobody wants a blow out on the side of the highway.
