Despite being off the air for years now, The Office is still one of the most popular TV shows on the planet. The show is such a hit because of it’s colorful cast of characters. We all love to laugh at Michael Scott, or relate to Jim and Pam, but Dwight Schrute might actually be the most interesting of them all.

In this video, we’ll break down the weird, roller coaster ride that is the story of Dwight Schrute. The character sees quite an evolution over the show’s nine seasons. At first, he was just a foil to Jim, who was meant to be relatable and like-able. The creators of the show used Dwight as a glorified plot device to give Jim some obstacles to deal with, in order to endear him to audiences. Only, nobody expected Dwight to turn into the unsung hero of the show. Here’s how that happened!
