Spoiler Alert! For those who haven’t seen Spider-Man: Far From Home yet, you may want to proceed with caution. For those who have seen the movie, you’re aware of the fact that Mysterio, or Quentin Beck, passes away at the end. I mean, at least we’re led to believe that’s what happened. You honestly never really know with that guy.

His final words were “People will believe anything you tell them to” which can be interpreted in a number of different ways. While it’s just eight simple words, there’s a ton of depth and meaning behind that sentence. For starters, there’s the fact that Mysterio is a master illusionist, and would absolutely benefit from Spider-Man and the rest of the world believing he’s dead, so this may be a not-so-subtle hint that he’s not actually gone. It could also be Marvel’s way of making a much grander statement about the way society works and how information is being processed in this day and age. There’s also the post-credit scene where Spider-Man is outed as Peter Parker and made to look responsible for Mysterio’s demise. This could be Quentin’s way of gloating in Peter’s face and admitting that he’s the one responsible for the footage.
