The primary international airport servicing Istanbul, Turkey is Istanbul New Airport, also referred to as Istanbul Airport. It is situated about 40 kilometers (25 miles) northwest of the city center, on Istanbul's European side, close to the Black Sea coast.

With a total area of 76.5 million square meters (18,903 acres) and a capacity of up to 200 million passengers per year, Istanbul New Airport is one of the world's largest airports. Six runways, four terminals, and over 350 check-in counters are available at the airport. A large duty-free shopping area, numerous restaurants and cafes, lounges, and other amenities are also available.
