Mufti Hussain Kamani holds a class on Imam Al Ghazali's book The Beginning of Guidance (Bidayat al-Hidaya)
Class # 4
The fourth class session focuses on Part One -- Obedience and on the etiquettes of waking from sleep (pages 24-26). The section on Obedience discusses two main categories: obligatory and voluntary acts. Imam Ghazali equates obligatory acts to capital required to operate a business, while the voluntary acts represent the profits enjoyed. Imam Ghazali encourages students to perform a self-introspection to evaluate their daily life, because Allah is monitoring everything that a person thinks or does. The student is compelled to organize and manage every moment of every day to adhere to the commandments of the Almighty. The second section discusses the etiquettes of waking from sleep. Much emphasis is based on performing dhikr as soon as one awakes, including a detailed supplication praising Allah and seeking refuge from the evil of the world. The section concludes on properly dressing and covering oneself while maintaining modesty.
Insha'Allah this class will be held once a week on Tuesday at Islamic Center of Chicago (ICC)
5933 N Lincoln Ave
Chicago, IL 60659
