Assalamu alaykum. In this video i logically explain why slavery isn't completely forbidden in the Qu'ran and the Sunnah. The basic summary of the video is as follows:
If the Qu'ran abruptly abolished slavery it wouldn't have worked, people would find it difficult to free all of their slaves, especially because arab society heavily depended on slaves. Slavery would also happen anyway, whether it be by Jews, Christians or the other religions in that region, so Islam stepped in as a way to not completely forbid slavery, but as a way to make it as humane as it could be. It is also believed that the end goal of the Qu'ran and prophet Muhammad (saw) was the eventual abolishment of slavery, evidenced by the surplus of verses in the Qu'ran and sayings in the hadith that tell us when we should free slaves.

Please don't think that i condone slavery. I do not. Everyone, Including Muslims, knows that slavery sucks. However, objectively, Islamic slavery is a better alternative to any other form of slavery.
