One of the biggest mysteries to most pilots is the Cessna 310 fuel system!

The C310 (this particular model is a 310R) can be fitted with up to six fuel tanks, feeding its two Continental IO520 engines.

The fuel system includes a return for vapour and excess fuel, but it only returns to the main tank (which is the tip tank on each side). Which is where it is very possible to cause earlier than expected fuel exhaustion in a Cessna 310!

A lack of understanding of this system has caused many an engine failure in a 310 and so it is important to understand the limitations and intricacies of the system before flying one.

This C310 is used for IFR and multi engine training and air charter (Part 135) operations.
