It’s a tale as old as time. Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast” is one of the most iconic fairy tales of all time. In 1991, Disney gave us the original animated movie of the classic fairy tale. Belle stole our hearts as the brilliant daughter of a crazy inventor. She sacrifices her own freedom to save her father and stays in the Beast’s enchanted castle. The two fall in love, and they break the spell. The Beast and all his enchanted household objects turn human again. And they all live happily ever after. Like many other Disney princesses, Belle does not have a mother. The original movie and the Broadway musical never explain what happened to her. The live action movie in 2017 gives a bit more backstory to Belle’s mother. But there are several other theories out there!
