Deputising for 'Duchess of Sutherland', LMS Jubilee 45596 'Bahamas' worked The Mancunian from Euston to Manchester on 21st October. Starting from the capital, the Jubilee would run down the WCML to Roade before turning right to take the Northampton Loop. After watering at Rugby, a dash to Stafford for more water was made before following the North Staffordshire line through Stoke and Macclesfield to Stockport. Having traversed the Manchester suburbs, the train would arrive at the destination, Manchester Piccadilly. The return run departed from Manchester Victoria and ran via Wilmslow and Sandbach to Crewe to rejoin the WCML. Water would again be taken at Stafford and Rugby. From Rugby, 45596 would surrender the train to a diesel an. work with support coach back to Southall, while the train returned to Euston.

Only the one shot today, taken at Hemel Hempstead station. A damp and miserable morning greeted 'Bahamas' as she strode away from the passenger pick up at Watford Junction. Steaming under Roughdown Road bridge, 45596 comes hammering towards the station at 72mph. Racing up the 1-in-330 gradient from Watford Tunnel, the 10 coach train flies through the station with a more than necessary shove from 47804 at the rear!
