It happens to everyone! Your foil is bound to hit the canopy of your wing and rip. You can send it out to get repaired by a professional, which is where you will get the best results for sure, or you can fix it yourself especially if you think you are going to break it again soon.
We got 15 feet of Dacron tape at West Marine for $20, we used about $6 of tape for this repair, definitely the cheapest way to get the job done.
