There are 4 different kinds of strength the first one is the compressive strength the ability to withstand compression or how much resistance does the metal offer when it is squeezed
tensile strength is how strongly a material resist tension or how much strength is required to tear the material apart
yield strength measures how well a material resists deformation or how much strength is required to bend the material
and finally, impact strength the ability to withstand sudden force or impact without breaking or shattering
now the metal we are looking for should have all the above strength because if it fails in any of the ones it is not of any use.
Also, there is no single metal that has ultimate compressive strength tensile strength yield and impact strength so that's the reason why we need alloys.
