Across Virginia, the number of books banned from schools and libraries more than doubled in 2023. In Hanover County, book bans have become a political flashpoint. Last year, its school board banned 91 books from school libraries. Many young people say this violates their right to free speech. We met students who started organizations that gives free banned books to their classmates and community.
