How's it going, neighbors This is Ed here with etrailer.com and we're taking a look at the Yakima SkinnyWarrior on our 2023 Hyundai Tucson. Adding a rooftop cargo solution is gonna help you increase your cargo area. When you have a vehicle that's like the Tucson or compact SUVs, you're limited as far as the amount of space you have for your cargo items. And this is gonna allow you to get those bigger, bulkier items and sometimes maybe those dirtier items that you don't want on the inside of your vehicle out with you on your adventures. Our SkinnyWarrior is made out of a black powder-coated steel that's gonna hold up against the elements in the real world. Another cool thing is the fact that you can actually expand it.

There's a 16 inch expansion piece that you can add that'll stretch out your capacity. Also, you're secured using this clamp system here. You have a lower upper clamp that's secured with a bracket and these twist knots on one side. You actually have a T-knot section on this one, that's gonna lock in to make it easy for removal. You can switch these blocks...

these out for lockable knobs with the Yakima kit that'll work with the same key system. Your SkinnyWarrior is secured to your crossbars using their clamp system. There's a lower and upper clamp as well as a bracket that's gonna tie everything together. And the system itself is designed to work with any style bar. For example, this is a Thule wing bar, but it'll work with square, round and OEM factory bars.

With our hatch open, you can see that you don't come anywhere near making contact. If you we inchesre to add the extension, you may need to make adjustments as far as where you place the brackets to make sure you don't come into any contact. However, overall, it's a great fit, right here on top of the Tucson. Your SkinnyWarrior has an included fairing that's gonna help reduce the wind noise you experience when you go down the road. Overall, the clearance on this guy is not gonna come too far ahead again without having the extension part in the middle.

And it looks like the clearance on the rooftop right here, you're right about five inches. So you're gonna have plenty of room to connect it to any rooftop setup that you have. The best attribute to the SkinnyWarrior is the fact that it allows you to add cargo, but it doesn't take up your entire roof rack. So if you have J-hooks for a kayak, a rooftop box, or even a bike carrier, you can add those accessories up here to the top of your bar and still have a nice amount of space to carry cargo. The SkinnyWarrior is super versatile and you have options to add additional accessories to it, to outfit it for your needs. There are brackets for light bars and there are also brackets for your shovel or ax, and you have a SkinnyWarrior net to help keep everything contained on top of your vehicle. So again, this has been a look at the Yakima SkinnyWarrior on our 2023 Hyundai Tucson.
