Discover how to tie a Prince Albert knot. The Prince Albert knot is an asymmetrical necktie knot that works with any type of collar. If you want to stand out from the crowd with an impressive knot, but don’t want to make it glaringly obvious, the Prince Albert knot is ideal.

This installment makes learning how to tie a tie easy, demonstrating a necktie knot attributed to Prince Albert, the husband of Queen Victoria. The Prince Albert knot is a compact, double-tiered, cylindrical knot – a regal tie knot to adorn your outfit with (well, in name at least – there is actually no evidence to prove it was ever worn by its namesake). It’s a relatively laid back looking knot - perfect for smart casual events or formal events with a relaxed edge.

The Prince Albert knot (aka the Double Knot) is essentially a variant of the four-in-hand knot, but with an extra loop of the wide end of the tie around the front. The wide end is then passed through both of the loops to complete the knot.
