She-Hulk is making her MCU debut in her very own series on Disney+. So we thought to help you prepare, we'd give you a crash course on her comic book origins. Jennifer Walters is the cousin of Bruce Banner, AKA the Incredible Hulk. And she’s also a crime fighting superhero/lawyer like her colleague, Matt Murdock, AKA Daredevil. Over the years She-Hulk has become one of the most iconic characters that Stan Lee himself created-and she’s about to get even bigger!

In February of 1980, Marvel Comics released The Savage She-Hulk number one. For the first time we are introduced to Jennifer Walters. A criminal defense attorney AND cousin to Bruce Banner, AKA, the Incredible Hulk.

Jennifer reveals to Bruce that she is on the opposite side of a court case involving crime boss, Nick Trask. We then see a Trask henchman shoot Jennifer, and Bruce hulks out and rips the henchman in two!

Oh wait, wait no, sorry that's wrong. We see Bruce grab a water hose and spray the shooter.

Bruce then picks up Jennifer and runs away. With Jennifer bleeding out quickly, Bruce decides there’s no time to get her to a hospital and opts to do a blood transfusion himself–using HIS blood. And so the She-Hulk was born. [clip]

Like her cousin, she now has super strength, speed, and the ability to jump very high and far.

But unlike her cousin, who has a Dr. Jeckel and Mr. Hyde situation when it comes to his Hulk. Transforming into a rage filled monster when in his Hulk form. [clip, tony complementing Hulk]

Jennifer on the other hand still retains her intelligence, her Jennifer Walters consciousness, when in her Hulk form. This is an ability Bruce Banner eventually masters, but only after years of struggling to keep the beast at bay.

Now like most female superheroes of her time, the She-Hulk character was a victim of oversexualization from time to time. Especially in the Sensational She-Hulk comics with covers like these.

But the She-Hulk character was able to overcome these stereotypes of just being a sexy Hulk. She's a strong, independent, successful woman, and has really become an inspiration to many readers, and a bit of a feminist icon. And yeah, she’s hot. [clip]

She-Hulk is a force. Both physically and with her outspoken, confident personality. She made herself far more than a Hulk derivative. And over the years she has developed quite the fanbase. [clip]

She-Hulk has been a member of the most famous Marvel temas. Including the Defenders, the Fantastic 4, and the Avengers. And during her time as an Avenger she was in a relationship with Thanos’ brother, Starfox. A character who also recently had their MCU debut in the post credit scene of Eternals. Portrayed by none other than Harry Styles. [clip]

So it’s possible that’s a relationship we may see happen in the MCU.

Now She-Hulk’s Disney Plus series is titled She-Hulk Attorney at Law. And the trailers have revealed that she will be heading up a Superhuman Law division.

So let’s take a look back at some of the greatest cases She-Hulk has had in the comics.

There was a case where the son of Doctor Victor Von Doom has defected from Latveria, Doom’s country that he is king of. In this case She-Hulk is trying to get Doom’s son political asylum in the U.S.

Another great case was when she represented Spider-Man when he sued J. Jonah Jameson for slander. [clip, liable]

Now over on ScreenCrush there’s a video discussing fellow superhero lawyer Matt Murdock, AKA Daredevil. And if his new Disney Plus series, Born Again, will focus on the legal ramifications of the blip.

Well, in the comics we’ve heard mentioned a reparations case called Thanos v. The Universe following all the chaos Thanos has caused. Now while in the MCU Thanos has died twice [clip]

It’d still be cool to see her involved in a case regarding the blip.

And speaking of Daredevil, we know that he’ll be appearing in the She-Hulk series. And while we’ve all assumed they’ll be working together as both superheroes and lawyers. There’s a case in the comics where Matt Murdock and Jennifer Walters are on opposite sides of a court case involving an elderly Steve Rogers.
