Everything in this Dunya is temporary; its wealth, power, luxuries, and amusements are in reality, just deceiving mirages of enjoyment. Allah says in the Quran, ”The life of this world is merely the enjoyment of delusion.” [Al-Imran:185]
No matter how many treasures of the world treasures you acquire, it will never satisfy your desires. It will never make you content and you will almost always wish for more and more. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said, “Nothing will suffice the belly of the children of Adam, except for dirt (meaning death)” [Agreed Upon].
Nobody can deny the reality that we must all depart from this world one day - sooner or later. People often dislike speaking about the fact that death is divinely willed, death is unpredictable and can happen at any time and as such Muslims should always be prepared for the inevitable and inescapable end that is waiting for all of us. Death is but a gateway from this short but mortal existence to eternal life after.
Amr Bin Abdullah used to mount the pulpit (Mimbar) and said: “Many a person who has seen the beginning of a day but would not see its end. And many a person who has expected morning but would not live to see it. If only you had known your appointed time and how it comes to pass, you would have detested nursing hope for worldly materials and its deception.
