Tragic Destiny: Buddy Holly & Ritchie Valens' Last Performance One of the last performances of Buddy Holly and Ritchie Valens performed at the Riverside Ballroom in Green Bay Wisconsin 2 days before the crash Founded in 1936, Riverside became locally known as one of the last venues for the Winter Dance Party tour that led to the Day the Music Died. The concert was played on February 1, 1959, two days before the crash in which Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens, and The Big Bopper died.
It is recognized by the city of Green Bay as a historic site.
