With Hyundai's Sonata being the 5th best-selling midsize family sedan, Hyundai knew they had to give the #2020Sonata a thorough refresh to keep it competitive in the rapidly advancing segment that is it competes in. But is Hyundai's Sonata truly ready to reel in more sales for the Hyundai brand as a whole? After all, the sedan segment is starting to flop in North America currently, so it comes as quite a surprise to see Hyundai chanting "LONG LIVE THE FAMILY". But after all, the Sonata nameplate has a very important history to the Hyundai brand, and it will take a lot more than "a slowly shrinking market" to drop the Sonata nameplate. Especially considering the sedan's rather impressive sales numbers year-after-year in the United States (even though for every 1 Sonata sold approximately 3 Camry sedans were sold).

Despite those sales figures, which Hyundai clearly wants to raise in the coming years, Hyundai is claiming that this will be the perfect answer to combat other competitors in the Midsize Family Sedan segment such as the Toyota Camry, Honda Accord, Nissan Altima, Ford Fusion (which is being axed for 2020), Chevy Malibu, Kia Optima, Mazda Mazda6, and Subaru Legacy. Hyundai is attempting to execute this by giving the Sonata lots of bold, expressive, and sculpted styling cues. Moreover, Hyundai is stating that the Sonata will be the first Hyundai car to boast the "Sensuous Sportiness" design language (both on the interior and the exterior). Therefore, aiding with the 2020 Sonata's very elegant, yet athletic persona.

As far as exterior dimensions go, the Sonata will still slot in larger than Hyundai's more compact entry: the Elantra. Actually, the Sonata is the largest sedan that Hyundai currently has to offer since the Azera was discontinued a few years ago! But, for comparison, the all-new Sonata will be notably smaller than something like a Genesis G80 or G90.

Also, another key aspect to keep in mind is that the Sonata can be had in a turbo or non-turbo variant, but only FWD and an automatic transmission is currently available. Honestly, AWD and an optional manual transmission would be cool to see in the near future in order to make the Sonata stand out from the market which is OVERLY SATURATED with FWD and automatic transmission cars.

When looking at available features, pricing, dimensions, and safety technology; this ALL-NEW car seems to be very class-competitive. Consequently, these additions should theoretically make the 2020 #HyundaiSonata a very solid entry in the ultra-competitive Midsize Sedan segment.

So, will this ALL-NEW 2020 car send more consumers flooding into Hyundai dealers, or will it leave consumers heading for the hills? Watch this detailed preview from the 49th Miami International Auto Show (#2019MIAS) to find out!
