Congratulations, Cruz and Andor!

Cruz leaves the nest and Andor is in for Daddy Duty. Looks like FP1 hatched recently, within the last few hours. The chick is still a little bit damp, but the head looks mostly dry.

It will likely be several more hours before the hatchling gathers enough strength to be able to hold the head up and actively beg for food.

FP hatched 4/2 by 08:24.
Egg1 laid 2/23 around 16:00. Egg2 laid 2/26 16:56. Egg3 laid 2/29 around 19:51. One egg broke overnight, unclear which.

This is a new nest camera installed by Dr. Sharpe in the fall of 2023. The nesting site is also new and was only previously used in 2023 (successfully so). The nest is located in a quiet canyon, on Santa Cruz Island in California, about 10-15 feet off the ground.
