In this program, students will learn to write haiku, a Japanese form of poetry that contains seventeen syllables, in three lines of five, seven, and five, traditionally evoking images of the natural world. The video teaches students how to write a poem in English written in the form of a haiku. Ms. Kinnas would love to read your students’ haiku. Please feel free to share her their work via email to: [email protected]. She will be happy to reply with comments. This program was produced by the Arts Center of Coastal Carolina and was funded in part by the South Carolina Arts Commission which receives support from the National Endowment for the Arts.
