The simple act of coiling power cords seems obvious but when done improperly, they can get twisted and even become dangerous if the internal conductors are exposed or dangerously kinked causing electrical cords to overheat. As a kid, I'd watch my friends coiling water skiing ropes and boat lines by wrapping them around their bent arms by circling them around and around from their hands to their elbows and round again. This always leave those cords, lines and ropes twisted and not easy to play out when needed. It wasn't until I started working around audio cables at an audiophile loud speaker designer and manufacturer that I learned a different technique that's always worked for me ever since.
