One of the largest children’s shows to hit the 2000s was a sitcom on Nickelodean called, ICarly. This comedic sitcom was arguably one of Jennette McCurdy’s biggest roles, landing her a plethora of opportunities in the entertainment industry. Because of this, it leaves many wondering why she would walk away from a tremendous amount benefits by not partaking in the 2021 reboot. On her podcast and many other interviews, McCurdy explains how damaging acting as a child was for her mental health. This damage has caused her to leave this career path indefinitely. She has been vocal about her opinions on how fame can destroy the well being of a child. It could be how the stereotype of the “crazy former child actor” comes to fruition. This leads to the question though, are all child actors doomed to face the same consequence?
