Our community gathered on June 6th to celebrate books that were recently challenged and embrace the right to read and think freely.

We were able to hand out copies of The Hill We Climb by Amanda Gorman, The ABCs of Black History by Rio Cortez and Lauren Semmer, and Love to Langston by Tony Medina and R. Gregory Christie, all thanks to our generous partners, and special thanks to Amanda Gorman who generously donated books for this event!

A special thanks to our partners and representatives who joined us on stage:
• William Alfred Johnson, Program Director, PEN America
• Katie Blankenship, Deputy Legal Directory, ACLU of Florida
• Stephana Ferrell, Director of Research & Insight, Florida Freedom To Read Project
• Scott Cunningham, Founder, O, Miami
• Karla Hernandez, President, United Teachers of Dade
• Dr. Marvin Dunn, author, historian, and Fouder of Miami Center for Racial Justice
• Richard Blanco, Miami-Dade County’s Poet Laureate, and inaugural poet
• Edwidge Danticat, international renowned writer
• Pastor Laurie, Pastor for the Coral Gables Congregational Church.
