Cruella De Vil - she has a song, multiple appearances on TV and films over the years and a new spotlight coming… but who is Cruella and how did she become the evil villainess we all know her as? Is there something more than meets the eye? Is there a reason for her horrid ways? Is she actually just misunderstood and the prime example of a cautionary tale of what can happen to a person if they don’t have support and help? Honestly, we have a feeling Emma Stone will do the role justice - if anyone can make an unlikeable character more understood, it’s probably Stone.
How did Cruella come to life at all? She was the creation of an author named Dodie Smith - who actually created her as a parody of the famous American actress Tallulah Bankhead. Then of course there were multiple iterations of the character, including the incomparable Glenn Close in 101 Dalmations.

Now while we all know the name “Cruella” very well… What about Estella? Now who is THAT? Well, in this video we’re diving into the whole story and what we know about Estella - the woman that existed before rising to evil and re-naming herself Cruella.

There has been plenty of speculation on her character over the years and some have concluded there is a high chance that Cruella suffers a mental illness that was left untreated. If this is the case, her obsession with the Dalmations and erratic behaviour makes some sense - even if it is still despicable.
Is she misunderstood or is she just pure evil? We can’t wait to see how the new movie will portray this legend!
