This is a Motormouth couple car review of the BMW plug-in hybrid X3 30e. With only 29km or 18-miles of pure EV range, this BMW X3 30e isn't the best electric offering in the market. In fact, when the EV range ends, this BMW X3 30e luxury compact utility has almost the same fuel economy as the 6-cylinder version called the X3M40i. This BMW X3 30e plug-in hybrid SUV has a 2L turbo 4-cylinder engine with an electric motor, an 8 speed automatic transmission with 288 horsepower but 310 lb-ft of torque with only 29km of range, thanks to a 12 kWh battery. The interior of the X3 30e has some interesting standard features like a 12-inch digital instrument cluster and a 10.2-inch iDrive display audio system but unlike the standard X3 which comes with leather seats, this pig-in hybrid version of the X3 gets leatherette seats. Strange. The official fuel economy for this plug-in is 11L/100km in the city and 8.6L/100km on the HWY, which is 21MPG City and 27MPG HWY.
