The1 first Issues for these updated second gen L5P duramax engines is a fueling problem. when these engines first came out in 2023 they were getting poor fuel economy and at times running rough. turned out there was some faulty software causing the injectors to over-fuel and the recall was released by GM to correct this software bug.

the next issues or concern is the New electronic system that is in the 2024 HD truck platform known as Global B. this complex electrical system allows for over the air software updates and in my opinion has potentially contributed to a greater amount of check engine lights.

Thirdly is the MAP sensor getting clogged with soot, pretty easy fix but certainly something to keep an eye on.

the fourth issues involved the injector 4 on these duramax engines, the connector was fail causing a missfire on the first gen L5P diesel engines. GM released an service bulletin and this has hopefully resolved this issues going forward with these new engines.

the last issues and maybe the most contiversial is the crankshaft pins breaking causing engine failure. aparently the dowel pins holding on the timing gears and harmonic balancer can fail and cause engine failure. I give you my opinon on this.

lastly I quickly discuss how I wish the duramax stroke was longer something like what ford has done to help create torque.
