In this video, I talk to Reema Sikka who is a vibrant, enthusiastic wife and mother of two adult sons, known for her resilience and positive outlook on life. She found her life partner in her college sweetheart, a Sikh man originally from Kochi, Kerala. Their family is a blend of diverse cultural backgrounds and experiences.

Her elder son, Zubin, is ambitiously pursuing higher studies in British Columbia, Canada, while also working there. Her younger son, Rumaan, affectionately called Sherry, is on the Autism spectrum. Sherry has been a transformative presence in Reema's life, reshaping her understanding of motherhood and profoundly influencing who she is today. He currently resides in a residential centre in Kurukshetra, Haryana, which suits his needs and helps him thrive.

Reema's academic journey includes a BA in Sociology and a diploma in Special Education from Chennai, a pursuit driven by her commitment to better understand and support Sherry. This educational experience was pivotal in helping her come to terms with her son's autism. It equipped her with the knowledge to navigate the challenges they faced, strengthening her ability to advocate for Sherry and understand his world.

Beyond her family life, Reema is passionate about interacting with others, especially in guiding and supporting parents who face similar challenges. She's a natural mentor and advocate, drawing from her personal experiences to inspire and empower others. Facing challenges head-on, Reema is known for her 'happy-go-lucky' demeanor, always ready to tackle life's obstacles with a smile.

Throughout her journey, Reema has always had the unwavering support of her family, which has been a cornerstone of her strength. Her conviction and faith in her decisions are backed by this solid support system. Above all, Reema believes in the blessings of a higher power, which she feels has guided and sustained her through the various phases of her life.
