Nissan has made its mark at the 2024 Beijing Auto Show with four new concept cars that preview an equal number of production vehicles for the Chinese market as part of its joint venture with Dongfeng. The Epoch sedan and Epic SUV have all-electric powertrains, while the Evo sedan and Era SUV are plug-in hybrids.

The automaker also confirmed that it will launch five new Nissan-branded NEV (EV + PHEV) models in China by 2026; This is one more than previously announced. Expanding the product range is part of "The Arc" business plan detailed a month ago.

The Nissan Epoch Concept' is an all-electric sedan designed for "city and suburban enthusiasts." The model looks like a rival to the Tesla Model 3, with minimalist surfaces and a stylish bodywork with modern split LED headlights. Epoch is packed with AI technology that includes a virtual assistant that recognizes emotions.

All four concepts will enter production by 2026, with additional NEV (New Energy Vehicle) models yet to be announced. Nissan didn't elaborate on the underpinnings of the concepts, which are likely closely related. Dongfeng will be responsible for production at its local factories, confirming Nissan's new slogan for the region: "In China, for China".

Nissan will launch a new “Ni Excitement” campaign as part of increasing its competitiveness in the Chinese market. In addition, the automaker will establish partnerships with "leading companies" for the development of artificial intelligence-based systems and services.

As part of “The Arc” business plan, Nissan's goal is to sell an additional 200,000 vehicles per year in China by 2026, contributing to annual sales growth of 1 million units worldwide.
