The village of Shamanka was founded in 1927 as a lumber camp. In 1937, the village had 10 semi-detached houses, a shop, a bakery, a bathhouse, a horse yard, and a hostel. In 1938 an elementary school was built.
In 1945, 700 Japanese prisoners of war were brought to Shamanka. Where the center of the village is now located, there was a zone surrounded by barbed wire, there were four towers for sentries and the protection of prisoners of war. Typhus soon broke out in the camp. Many Japanese have died. They were buried separately from the Russians.
In 1948, about 700 exiled Lithuanians were brought to Shamanka. In Irkutsk they were divided into two groups. Some of the Lithuanians were sent to the collective farms of the Irkutsk region, while others were sent to the village of Kuytun, where they were distributed among barracks and hastily knocked together sheds. The Lithuanians worked together with the Russians on the felling of the forest and built the village of Kuytun, located on the mountain river Kuytun. In 1958, Lithuanians received permission to leave for their homeland. Some left, but many stayed.
Until 1962, the village was part of the Vvedensky Village Council. In 1963 it became a suburb of the city of Shelekhov.

In 1970, at the next session of the Shaman Village Council, the issue of street names was decided (for a long time there were no street names in the village). The streets were named: Soviet, Yubileinaya, Gornaya, Solnechnaya, Embankment. Later, Komsomolskaya, Dachnaya, Pine were built.
In 1971, a power line was laid.
In July 1971, there was a severe flood, the water level in Irkut rose by 7 meters. Great damage was done to the Irkutsk timber industry enterprise. During the flood, residents had to be evacuated. The suspension bridge was swept away by the water current. After the flood, the village was rebuilt. The management of the Irkutsk timber industry came to the conclusion that it is better to take out the timber by road, for this purpose a ferry crossing was built in 1967, which is still in operation. In 1992, on the right side of the Irkut River, 50 hectares of land were allocated for individual housing construction.
On June 16, 1999, by the decision of the Shelekhov City Duma, the “Regulations on the Shaman intra-municipal formation” were approved.
In 1993, the Shaman village council was renamed the administration of the village of Shamanka, and the villages of Shamanka, Kuytun, Moty have been part of the Shaman rural settlement of the Shelekhovsky district since June 1993.
On March 12, 2004, a pedestrian bridge across the Irkut River was opened
