The time-dependent Schrodinger equation, which was introduced in our previous videos, can be viewed as a quantum analog of the Newton second law of motion, which describes the quantum dynamics of the wave function. For many problems in quantum mechanics, we are only interested in time-independent potentials V, which means V is only a function of position. In this video, the time has come to learn the general framework of how to solve for the wave functions for these cases. In this video, we show that the general solution of the time dependent Schrodinger equation can be obtained just by solving the time independent Schrodinger equation.
