Giant pandas are born only rarely. Thanks to biological factors like a short fertility window, breeding is an issue for these endangered bears. It’s particularly problematic in captivity – which is why scientists are looking to wild pandas for help. We followed a research team to southwest China, capturing never-before-seen footage of pandas courting in the wild. What are their mating habits? How do young survive? And could this help preserve the future of the world’s 1,000 remaining wild giant pandas?
