Today we're going to take a step back in time and discover some of Victoria's most remarkable gold mining history, nestled away in a picturesque alpine valley.

Beautifully restored and maintained, Walhalla is a must-see destination where you can take a trip on the stunning Walhalla Goldfields Railway, head underground on a guided mine tour, explore the town's charming stores and museums, and enjoy the natural beauty of the region. You can even set out on a ghost tour after dark.

In this video, we're going to take a look into the history of the Long Tunnel Extended Gold Mining Company, exploring some of the mining methods and machinery used by the mines in Walhalla - some typical of gold mines throughout Victoria, and some truly remarkable.

Much appreciation for the generous hospitality of the folks at the Long Tunnel Extended Gold Mine, who allowed me to film underground, answered endless questions, and shared lots of fascinating information regarding these mines as well as the beautiful town.

When I visited for a tour, I was blown away by the unique history and development of these mines, and their story is brilliantly presented by the extremely knowledgeable and passionate tour guides at the Long Tunnel Extended.

I highly recommend you head up to Walhalla to check it out.
