We loaded the kayaks and headed to the lake. My daughter agreed to try re-entering her kayak in deep water after a simulated roll. It proved to be much more difficult than you might think. Knowing the proper technique and practicing that technique until you are confident that you can re-enter your kayak in deep water is recommended. I hope this video will prompt you to do a little practicing too. We will certainly keep practicing until we can confidently and proficiently re-enter our kayaks, so when we do find ourselves out in middle of the lake and upside down, we will not have a long gruesome swim to shore. If we had been in an emergency situation, we would have been in serious trouble. Don't wait until it happens to you before you practice, and learn the proper techniques to re-enter your kayak in deep water.
