Gravity Falls is a Disney Channel animated series that ran for two seasons from 2012-2016. Today, fans love watching the series back on Disney+, and it gives us plenty of time to notice details we may have missed the first time around. Like so many family friendly animated series and movies these days, Gravity Falls aims not only to appeal to kids, but it strivest to appeal to the grown ups in the room just as much. As a result, there are plenty of moments over the course of this series that younger folks most likely wouldn’t understand. Sometimes these moments are dirty jokes, inappropriate subjects, and pop culture references that are way before the younger generation’s time. Yet, just because kids won’t understand every joke or innuendo in this series doesn’t mean that they’ll ask what something means or even notice that they’re not understanding something. A joke that’s funny for adults, inappropriate to kids, and kids don’t even notice it’s happening is the sweet spot for family-friendly adult moments, because it allows the show to really work for everyone. Gravity Falls has no problem existing in this space, and it’s amazing to see just how many moments they snuck in to give adults a laugh. From an unexpected Psycho reference to lots of puberty talk, and even a flat out drug deal, we think you’ll be pretty surprised to see all the moments that were made for adults in this series, and some of them are sure to give you a laugh.
