Denis Villeneuve’s Dune Part II, based on Frank Herbert’s literary masterpiece, could very well be the biggest movie of 2024.

More than three decades earlier, back in 1984, director David Lynch’s Dune, was also one of the most anticipated movies of the year. Even so, it flopped upon release. How could that happen, and could it happen again?

In this retrospective, @AndreEinherjar will explore David Lynch’s Dune, and where it went wrong.
To do that, he will begin by looking into the source material and the earlier failed attempts at making a Dune movie. Then he’ll shine a light on the movie itself, where it won’t wrong, give my review, and give his recommendation for which version of it you should see today.
