Spied on Michigan streets just outside a Ford product development center, a very lightly camouflaged test vehicle of what is almost certainly an entry-level model of what the internet assumes will be called the Ford Maverick.

Absent any sort of snazzy lighting, and wearing a set of rock-’em-sock-’em steel wheels, this looks like an XL trim if there ever was one. There are also cheaper fittings on its aft suspension, and any suggestion of towing gear has been deleted. The sliding rear window is gone, too.
