The world is a dark, dangerous place at the moment, and instead of succumbing to the pressures about, I have committed to uploading content for you all no matter the quality or struggle. Music unites us, and in times when we need light most, I hope art remains that foundation for those struggling. If I can be that pillar for just one person, I've done my job. Considering this, I tried my hand at recording a visual and audio for YouTube...on my own. These bedroom covers will improve as I navigate the process, but for now, all we need is what makes us human, and for me, that's my voice.

The funniest part of this whole experiment is that I used to HATE #DancingOnMyOwn. When I worked in retail, the original by #Robyn would repeat incessantly. The song became a sour reminder of an outdated, musty retail store carpet smell and women with hair trimmed to their shoulders demanding to speak to a manager. Sadly for them, turns out I was the manager (not today, Karen). Eventually, I grew a deeper respect for Robyn as an artist and, coincidentally working at a restaurant job five or so years later, encountered the version which I decided to recreate by #CalumScott. I could finally dissociate the mental sour taste and relate a new, more refined, perspective to the song and it's poetic undertone.

I have now been asked to cover this innumerable times and, as it has become a staple of honest singer-songwriter acoustic contemporary music, I decided what better time to sing such a song than when I'm forced to create content in such a raw and vulnerable space.

The world is healing. I hope we can heal together. I hope my voice can move someone or, rather, remove someone from that which we cannot escape. Let me know in the comments if you've 1) read this entire passage, and 2) enjoy these lesser produced bedroom covers. My goal here is to create what you all respond best to and, once this all passes, I hope to create more of that.

Calum Scott - Dancing On My Own LYRICS
Somebody said you got a new friend
Does she love you better than I can?
There's a big black sky over my town
I know where you're at, I bet she's around
And yeah, I know it's stupid
But I just gotta see it for myself
I'm in the corner, watching you kiss her, oh oh oh
I'm right over here, why can't you see me, oh oh oh
And I'm giving it my all, but I'm not the guy you're taking home, ooh
I keep dancing on my own
I'm just wanna dance all night
And I'm all messed up, I'm so out of line, yeah
Stilettos and broken bottles
I'm spinning around in circles
And I'm in the corner, watching you kiss her, oh
I'm right over here, why can't you see me, oh
And I'm giving it my all, but I'm not the guy you're taking home, ooh
I keep dancing on my own
And oh no
So far away but still so near
The lights come up, the music dies
But you don't see me standing here
I just came to say goodbye
I'm in the corner, watching you kiss her, oh
And I'm giving it my all, but I'm not the guy you're taking home, ooh
I keep dancing on my own
And oh no
Sit down in the corner, watching you kiss her, oh no
And I'm right over here, why can't you see me, oh no
And I'm giving it my all, but I'm not the guy you're taking home, ooh
I keep dancing on my own
So far away, but still so near
The lights come up, the music dies
But you don't see me standing here
