Sometimes when finding shells, they have the critter still in them. This is how I remove them.....

I boil for about 10 mins, let cool. Next I take a paper clip & straighten it out. I stick it in the bottom end & rotate it following the contour of the shell. The inside usually pops right out. I do this for many kinds of shells - olives, conchs, etc.
