Robert Miles - Children (Piano Version)
Piano Version by Patrik Pietschmann

Another year is coming to an end and I would like to thank those who have been following me on my musical journey for several years, whether by watching my piano videos on YouTube, streaming my music on Spotify or other streaming platforms or playing my arrangements and original compositions on the piano themselves. A very special thanks goes to my superfollowers, who keep an eye out for a new video on Fridays and are always the first to leave a comment and like under my videos. Without this hard core of extraordinary, enthusiastic, music-loving and like-minded people, my YouTube channel would not exist in this form. I can hardly wait to present you some more compositions and arrangements next year.

Now a few words about this video: It is certainly something that happens to all of us, that sometimes special memories and situations from our own childhood are replayed in our heads like short movie scenes. However, a few weeks ago, I was haunted for several days by a rather unusual memory that doesn't actually sound all that spectacular. I'm sitting in my parents' car as an 8-year-old child, parked in front of the savings bank in our village. While my mother goes to withdraw some money, I wait alone in the car, the radio playing. Suddenly, I hear a melody on the radio that triggers something very special in me. It was the first conscious experience for me of hearing music that I had never heard in this form before and which at that point stood out in some way from the music I had known before. I can't remember the last time I heard the track before it was suddenly played again by my long-term memory. But I suspect it was over 20 years ago. As I couldn't get the melody out of my head, I decided to take an active interest in it and start by finding out the title and composer by humming the melody to the Google app. The melody recognition worked straight away and gave me "Children" by Robert Miles. What a fitting title, I thought! Listening to the music again after all this time with my now grown-up ears was also a special experience for me, as I now listen to music much more analytically and pay more attention to the use of individual instruments. Among other things, I didn't remember the song as being so "electronic". Although I had actually already started on my next composition, I decided without hesitation to share this musical experience with you and arrange the song for my YouTube channel, even though it is neither film music nor an original composition. And it has already had a positive side effect: since I recorded this arrangement, the melody has no longer haunted me in my head.

I wish you a Merry Christmas and a good start to the New Year!
